Another Day Involving Water

After breakfast I rode with Gereon to his home in Plaidt where I did some work on my computer while he was doing some of his own work. Then we all (including Maria and Daniel) drove to Koblenz to visit and have lunch with Geron's parents. While there we had time for a quick walking tour of a part of Koblenz, the most famous site being the Deutsches Eck where the Moselle and Rhine rivers converge. Following our lunch of Thai food we drove along the Rhine River to the town of Boppard-Buchholz with a view of a few castles along the way. In Boppard-Buchholz we stopped at St. Sebastian's Church where we had a few minutes to play the organ. It is a new instrument built in 2014 by Hubert Fason, but is done with meantone temperament (for you musicians). There is a video clip of music played on that instrument on my YouTube channel at https://youtu.be/H1QHqN8UvUQ.
Here is a picture of the organ facade:

We then returned to the Abbey in time for Vespers after which we drove across the road to the actual lake (Maria Laach). The lake is in the crater of an inactive volcano. The Abbey has a private dock on the lake. I dangled my feet in the cold water while Gereon took a swim and Maria and Daniel sat and watched. It was a very peaceful time.
I was back to the Abbey by 7:30 p.m. - my earliest evening so far.
