I began the day with a visit to All Saints Church, the village church of Haslingfield - a church dating from the 16th century. The church currently has a J. C. Bishop organ with a G compass (for you musicians again). The sound of this organ was amazing. Below are a few pictures taken at this church. (The tarp is due to work being done on the church ceiling.)

A video recordinng is available at https://youtu.be/gN4txtZoAqM.

From Halsingfield we again went back to Cambridge to visit a couple more college chapels beginning with Jesus College which actually has two organs in its chapel. The oldest organ, located closest to the altar, dates originally from the mid 19th century. In 2007 a new instrument of 33 stops built by Orgelbau Kuhn replaced an earlier second organ in the chapel. Here are pictures of the facades of the two instruments.

After spending time playing on these two instruments it was time for lunch which I ate at a cafe located in a former church building. (Michaelhouse Cafe in what was formerly St. Micheal's Church.) Following lunch I took a leisurely stroll to the Fitzwilliam Museum. After spending an hour there I had barely scratched the surface, but it was time to move on.

The next stop was at Girton College. Although it is now co-ed, Girton College was originally the first and only all female college in Cambridge University. Below are a couple of pictures of the Girton College Chapel and the organ facade in the chapel.

From Cambridge we drove north to the town of Ely to visit the Ely Cathedral and attend an Evensong service. The Cathedral, built in 673 as a Benedictine Abbey Church, is immense. It is impossible to capture the full size of the building in a photo, but I have included two which at least begin to give some sense of how large the building is.

(what in this photo appears to be the far end of the building is merely the half way point)

(this is again only about one half of the entire building)

Following a brief visit to the organ console after Evensong, Robin and I returned to his home in Haslingfield where we joined Alison for some pizza, then walked to the neighborhood pub for a pint of ale before retiring for the night.
