Well I am down to the second to last day of my sabbatical which is more than a bit sad. It has been a great time with many wonderful adventures.
This morning we took the subway down to the World Trade Center. We had tickets for the 9/11 museum at 11:00 a.m. but arrived early enough to spend some time walking around the area, visiting the reflection ponds and the rebuilt PATH/Train terminal. The two ponds (which cover the footprints of the original 1 and 2 towers) are quite moving, but once inside the museum words cannot describe the experience. Anyone visiting New York City MUST put this on the list of things to see. We spent over an hour and half, and that was moving at a fairly good pace. Below are a few (of many) pictures taken.

After leaving the museum we walked around the financial district some more including a stop at Trinity Church. A service was just ending, so I was able to hear and record the organ. Following this we had a late lunch at St. George Tavern (a space which used to be St. George Chapel).

On our way back to find a subway station that would take us back to the area of our hotel we came across St. Peter’s Church which claims to be the oldest Roman Catholic Church in New York City.
