Following breakfast today we boarded the motor coaches and were taken to the Auersperg Palace to listen to a one hour rehearsal of the Vienna Residence Orchestra. It was fun to see an conductor and small orchestra working through a rehearsal.

We then had free time all the way through the afternoon. Darwin and I did some more walking around the central part of Vienna stopping in at the St. Augustine Church; strolling through a park with a statue of Mozart; eating lunch at a local restaurant; then heading back to the ship (after purchasing the obligatory souvenir T-shirts!)

At 3:45 p.m. there was a pre-concert talk about Mozart’s Requiem, followed by a buffet dinner.

At 7:15 p.m. we departed by motor coaches for a private concert of Mozart’s Requiem in the beautiful Karlskirche performed by Cantus XVII and the Orchester 1756 conducted by Martin Garand..

Back on board the ship we ended up staying up much too late talking with other travelers in the lounge even as the ship departed Vienna around 11:00 p.m., bringing to a close Day Eight.
